Hey everyone!

Poke restaurants are opening up all over downtown and I’m so happy because I’m a huge Poke fan. The only downside for me is I only go Downtown once in a while. I really wish they’ll open up a Poke restaurant permanently in Richmond so I can get Poke all the time. I’ve been meaning to go grocery shopping soon so I can make my own Poke bowls for lunch, but since recently I have no time to shop.. Poke restaurants are great for people like me… people who don’t have a lot of time.

So I went to Pokerrito in Downtown, it is located on Dunsmuir. I went at night so there was barely a line. Apparently during lunch hours, it can get up to an hour wait… which is pretty ridiculous to me.. considering my lunch only consists of an hour.. and I would definitely not like to spend that hour stuck in a line.

Candy Tree Dessert

What a rainy Saturday! With the weather so ugly, lets talk about something on a brighter note. Last week, we were invited by Chinese Bites to a media tasting at Candy Tree Dessert. Its located in Burnaby along Kingsway. They have parking at the back and they also have street parking on the side. This place gets full fast at night. They don’t have a huge interior but I highly recommend coming here and try their desserts.. and once you read my reviews down below, you’ll know why!

Poke Time on Robson

I’m so glad the long weekend has officially started! Even though the weather has been dreadful these days, I’m really looking forward to sleeping in each morning for the next couple of days!

I personally LOVE sushi and I crave it everyday. When I heard Poke Bowls were opening up in Vancouver Downtown, I was extremely stoked. One of the few that opened up so far is “Poke Time”. It’s located right on the street of Robson. The interior was very simple. They got bar seating against the walls.

Tangram Creamery

Hey everyone,

Its the last day of August and its pouring cats and dogs outside. So I’m taking some time to recapture the good stuff that happened this Summer. Summer was full of ice-cream runs. One of the many memories include Tangram Creamery that is located in the Kitsilano area. When we first stepped in, it smelled AMAZING. Their home made cookie cones were to DIE for. The whole space smelt like a big giant cookie and it was great 🙂 They sell ice creams by the pint for $10.00. They have a full list of the different flavors available.

Raisu

I woke up this morning thinking it was Fall Season… Can we just rewind back to June and start Summer all over again?

This Summer, a new restaurant opened up on West 4th. Raisu, the sister chain restaurant of Suika, Rajio and Kingyo. The restaurant is located on the second floor so it is easily missed if you are just driving or walking by! The interior was very nice, lots of natural light and they also had balcony seating! I recommend booking ahead of time if you are planning to come dine here because they do get full fast. Especially if you want to sit in the balcony seatings. My friends and I sat at the middle bar section. I love how they had bottles and bottles of drinks as displayed above us.

Ohana at Richmond Night Market

I seriously can’t believe summer is coming to an end. It’s very depressing just to think about it. BUT I’m glad the Richmond Night Market is still going to be open during the weekend until October 10th, 2016.

This year I went to the Richmond Night Market two times and BOTH times I decided to get the Salmon Poke from Ohana Poke. First time I tried it, it was amazing. People may think $8.00 for a small bowl of Poke is expensive but I really think you are paying for the quality. Night Market food was NEVER cheap anyways so for $8.00, you get this great quality bowl of poke and you can tell the people working there, such as “Cooking with Ben” treats his food like art. The way how they place their food in each bowl has a system and I love it. It’s consistent and each time I go there, I know it’s still going to be good.

The ingredients used worked perfectly together and the flavors mixed very well together. I love how the ingredients were fresh and visually it looked very appealing.

Overall I loved it and I would definitely go back again and again for this 🙂

Yuan’s Shanghai Serendipity Cuisine

Hey everyone!

Phil and I love Shanghai food and we were stoked to see a new Shanghai restaurant open up in Richmond. When we got there, the exterior and interior of the restaurant was very unique! The exterior definitely gives off an Asian vibe and the interior was very well polished as well. The seating’s were very unique because they used royal blue coverings. Unfortunately, the seats look good but it was not comfortable at all. For me, it was fine but if you are heavier, like Phil, you definitely feel the bottom of the seats. His butt was sinking into the seat and he can feel the wood at the bottom.

Ovaltine Cafe

Hey everyone!

On Sunday, we met up with a few other foodies at Ovaltine Cafe to try out their menu! They are not located on the best spot in town but they definitely offer some big delicious plates of food! Their menu prices are beyond generous and you are definitely getting your money’s worth with this place! They’ve been on the map since 1942 and was also used as a set in many movies! No renovations have been done to this place so you are really sitting in a original classic diner!

Vij’s is a well known modern Indian cuisine restaurant and they opened up their new location on Cambie. They do not take reservations so from time to time, you may notice they have a long lineup at their front entrance. When you first enter in, they have a waiting area for you to sit in. They serve drinks and offer complimentary appetizers. The appetizers are served from time to time to each table. This is the only restaurant that I know of, that serves complimentary appies while you wait for your table. Also, they are good too!

Kuma Izakaya

Near the end of July, we were invited by @sophiaeats to a media tasting at Kuma Izakaya. It’s a new Japanese/Korean fusion restaurant that is located on the steps of Yaletown. Yaletown is known for great food and stunning atmosphere and Kuma Izakaya is a great addition to the mix. Their interior is modern, sleek and clean. They are very close to the skytrain station so don’t worry about transportation. I would recommend taking transit because they have some pretty amazing alcoholic drinks there and i do not recommend drinking and driving!
