I’m pretty sure everybody went out during the weekend and experienced the heat wave in Vancouver. It’s cooling down a bit now so hopefully the heat will pick up when weekend arrives! Phil and I are always on the lookout for a great patio to dine at. Last week we decided to try out Tapenade Bistro in Steveston, Richmond. They had outdoor seating outside but unfortunately the only available table they had out there had no umbrella. Therefore, we decided to move back inside.
Their menu is very simple. It’s a one page menu so deciding what to order was easy and quick. I think their prices seem pretty reasonable compared to the rest of the restaurants located in Steveston.
Phil ordered the Fish and Chips- 1 Piece ($14.00). The fries were well seasoned, and the fish was fresh! The batter stayed put with the fish for the most part so it was pretty good. The only downside to this place is you don’t have the option of choosing the type of fish you prefer. They only have snapper. Phil never liked slaw, so he had no thoughts on that. The dish came with two sauces.Tartar sauce for the fish and the other one is a garlic aioli sauce that tasted delicious with the fries!
I ordered the Half Pound of Mussels with grilled bread- White wine style. ($10.00) I didn’t feel like eating a huge main course for lunch so I went for an appetizer. 1/2 pound of mussels is more than enough for one person. The bread dipped in the sauce was absolutely delicious. For $10.00, i think this is an extremely great deal. You can either eat this as your main meal or order this to share with a few friends! The mussels were fresh and well flavored.
Overall I think this is a great place to hit up if you are craving for some delicious seafood. It’s a great patio option to go to if you are looking for a place within Richmond. It’s tough to find restaurants with patios within Richmond, so I think this is not a bad option. Plus, after eating, you can always walk around the market, check out some local stores and get some ice cream!
